www.wingscanada.com WINGS endeavors to bring caring women with business, life and mentoring skills together with those reaching out to develop their WINGS in these talents. The WINGS motto is to.... "MENTOR with the MIND and LEAD with the HEART" We provide small luncheon meetings where no more than 20 can attend. Keeping the group small allows for the synergy to happen when you get women sharing who they are, what they do, what they need, their victories, goals, and strategies to achieve these goals. There is no fees, restrictions, boards to sit on, and no clickness. Women love WINGS! Carol Muller peered into the future when she founded MentorNet. In 1998, she paired industry professionals with 200 women studying science or engineering at under grad or graduate levels. Next year, Muller anticipates 3,500 participants. "There is a high rate of satisfaction with MentorNet. Students report that self-confidence increased," she said. Women make up half of the work force but only 9 percent of the engineers and 6 percent of all aerospace engineers. Muller said that the women who drop out of engineering programs do so with better grades than the men who stay. Confidence can make a difference, she said. "Some women love being pioneers. Others look around and wonder, 'What's wrong with me?'" Visit MentorNet today.
Women In Business Cyberspace Field of Dreams has started the E-Mail Discussion Mail List in order to provide a way for ongoing mentoring (java chat) sessions. We wish to support activities designed to (1) participate in the growth and understanding of the professional environment, (2) improve the business common sense of individuals, and (3) assist in alleviating social problems as they affect the professional achievement of Women In Business. The government office SCORE is a group of volunteer retired executives who have volunteered to mentor via email. I will caution you that these retired volunteers may not have experience in online business but can assist you in general business issues pertaining to building specific business skills. We hope to provide on-line instruction for new owners and (1) share resources with experienced women in business, (2) encourage women in business to identify and set realistic and achievable goals, (3) support each other's desire to stay or enter into business as a way to achieve their goals and improve self-esteem and (4) to create a successful atmosphere to attain growth in business and personal relationships. If you are interested in a specific topic, please let Deb Nyberg know so FoD can arrange a session for you.
