Media Kit Tips

Package and Distribute Your Media Kit Like a Pro

Your profile, bio, and fact sheet should be printed on company letterhead and placed in an elegant two pocket folder. Complete your media kit by including
a pitch letter, your photo, brochure, ad insert, company newsletter, 2 business cards, most recent and pertinent articles (up to three), press relesses, and a
personalized promotional item if your budget can handle it. Other items include:

      Testimonials Sheet
Exclusive sample article for them to use
      Charity work
      Recent awards
A list of your upcoming events
A list of sample interview questions that you feel would be make a good article

Develop a media list comprised of editors and reporters who are interested in your business industry. Blindly sending your media kit out will only get it
trashed and your business blacklisted. Editors and reporters have a long memory.

Before sending your media kit, request the editorial calendar and writers guidelines for each of the publications on your media list. Keeping your media list
current is also important. Just because the editor or reporter was there last month, doesn't mean they are still there. They change jobs and beats quite
 frequently.

Place your media kit in an attractive envelope. Create a special label that includes a compelling question and let the reporter know that they can find the
answer inside. For example: How Can A Businesswoman With Only A Little Web Knowledge Take Advantage of Viral Marketing? The answer can be
 found inside.
