Building a mail list through a newsletter
|
|
| I subscribe to many newsletters and different mail lists, all designed
with the same intent, to help me grow my business! Each has it’s
own personality and trend for which I’m grateful. I take their ideas
and try to put them to work in a context appropriate for my business.
The one underlying fact stated in each is to build a mail list by means
of a newsletter. Within the last 6 months I’ve increased my subscription
database from approx. 500 members to over 1100 members. How?
By advertising!
Something they want: First you must have something in your newsletter people want. Content is very important and must be something specifically related to your business. For me, I concentrate on crafting ideas and at the end of each newsletter I have a link to a new free pattern, available only to subscribers. They want the free pattern. Where to advertise: Advertising is important, but not nearly as important as where you advertise. I already stated I subscribe to many newsletters and mail lists to receive the much-needed advice from others who have first hand experience. For repeat visitors, give them something for free. So I set up a free patterns page that is not stagnant. I replace free patterns twice monthly to keep my visitors returning to see what’s new! What better place to advertise my newsletter? Advertise on a highly visited page. What’s more, I started enticing visitors to subscribe by placing a photo of the free pattern that will be included in the next newsletter. Advertise on a highly visited page. Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. A newsletter must be interesting so you’ll keep your subscribers. And don’t forget the real reason for having a newsletter is to stay in contact with existing and potential customers. Cylinda, Crochet Memories
