would like to find out what is available to me for at home work. This is
a new experience for me but I feel it is something I am capable of
doing. I have sales experience, management experience in the jewelry industry,
and also have done medical transcription and health unit coordinating at
a few hospitals. My experience is broad and I have done many things so
far and I would like to try a new field in the computer world. What do
I do?"
Michelle, focus is the name of the game. You have many talents;
as I see from your email message to me. However, you must look hard
and deep at what it is that you do which gives you the most pleasure.
What is the thing you would do if you had all the money in the world, and
didn't have to work? Once you focus on that, you should find the
business you are best suited for. You see, going into business is
a very time consuming task that will be the hardest "job" you'll ever
have. So, keeping that in mind, you should love it with all your
heart in order to have "staying power" through the ups and downs of business
ownership. You must also have a lot of self-confidence and believe
(no matter who tells you differently) that you will succeed! It is
better to have the support of your family; but, if you don't, you can make
it, if you believe in yourself!
Here is a link to 99 Homebased businesses you can start at home.
You can receive a lot of help from your local SBA Score Mentor in developing your
business. You will also need a projected
budget for what it would cost you to operate a new business for at least
a year. Then you should bring both those items into your local Women's
Development Center or SBA (Small Business Administration) and ask them
to help you secure a LowDoc SBA Loan for new business start-ups.
You should also align yourself with active women in business in
your community, as well as the fodbusiness discussion group.
In choosing to join, you immediately
have access to women in business who can answer questions such as "Where
do I register my website in search engines?" Anything that comes
up with respect to business education, these participants in the maillist
will help you. You will post a question or comment to the maillist
address and that one post will go to all the women in the group.
Then they will send you responses. You will also see post from other
women in business with questions that you may know the answer to and share
with the group.

Hope all that helps you. If you have further questions, please
